South India is a region in the southern part of India. It includes the states Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu. It also houses the Union Territory Pondicherry(Puducherry) and Lakshadweep Island in the Arabian Sea. The Godavari, Krishna, Tungabhadra and Kaveri rivers are important non-perennial sources of water. Southern region speak one of the Dravidian languages: Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Tulu. The classical dances of India like “Bharat Natyam” and “Kathakali” have South Indian origin.
This part of India has enormous beaches, water falls, forests, lakes, backwaters, Wild Life Sanctuary etc. The famous cities in this region are Hyderabad and its twin city Secunderabad, Mysore, Bangalore (Bengaluru), Kochi (Cochin), Trivandrum (Thiruvananthpuram), Chennai (Madras), Kanyakumari (Nagercoil)etc. Some of the famous hill stations in this region are Kodaikanal, Ooty (Ootacamund), Munnar etc.
Day 1: Chennai: On arrival at Chennai, you will be met by our representative. PM :Sightseeing of Chennai. Overnight: At the hotel.
Day 2: Chennai – Tirupathi: After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for Tirupathi. Darshan. Overnight: At the hotel
Day 3: Tirupathi – Mahabalipuram: Aftter breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Mahabalipuram. Arrive Mahabalipuram and check-in at the hotel. Overnight: At the hotel.
Day 4: Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry: After breakfast, proceed for a half day sightseeing of Mahabalipurm/ This ancient Pallava Port, is today the sight of several antique sculptural marvels. Visit the Shore Temple, Arjuna’s Penance and the five rathas. Return to the hotel and freshen up. Check out of the hotel by 1200hrs and depart for Pondicherry. Arrive Pondicherry and check-in at the hotel. Later proceed for sightseeing of Pondicherry visiting, Sri Aurobindo Ashram, The Church of Notre Dame A’es Angels, Auroville. Overnight: At the hotel.
Day 5: Pondicherry – Tanjore – Trichy:After early breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Trichy via Chidambaram, Gamgaikonda Cholapuram & Tanjore. Enroute visiting the Chidambaram Nataraja Temple and the famous Brihadeeswata Temple at Tanjore. Arrive Trichy and check-in at the hotel. Overnight: At the hotel.
Day 6: Trichy – Madurai:After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed for sightseeing of Trichy visiting the rock fort temple and Srirangam. Later proceed to Madurai. Arrive Madurai and check-in at the hotel. Visit the Sri Meenaksshi temple and the Thirumalainaik Palace. Late evening proceed to Sri Meenakshim Temple to view the night ceremony. Overnight: At the hotel.
Day 7: Madurai – Rameshwaram – Madurai:After breakfast proceed for a day return trip to Rameshwaram which is called the ‘Banaras of the South’ visiting the Ramanathaswamy Temple, Pamban Bridge which is the longest bridge in India and illustrates the marvel of engineers, and Dhanushkodi which is the eastern most tip of Rameshwaram. Return to Madurai. Overnight: At the hotel.
Day 8: Madurai – Kanyakumari: After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Kanyakumari which got it’s name from Kumar Amman, is situated on shore of the Bay of Bengal, Indiian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. Arrive Kanyakumari and check – in at the hotel. Overnight: At the hotel
Day 9: Kanyakumari – Trivandrum – Kovalam: After breakfast proceed for sightseeing of Kanyakumari. Visiting the temple, Vivekanda Rock. At 1200hrs check out of the hotel and proceed to Trivandrum. Arrive Trivandrum and check – in at the hotel. Later proceed for sightseeing of Trivandrum visiting Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the Royal Palace Museum, Napier Museum and the Sree Chithra Art Gallery. Later proceed to Kovalam. Overnight: At the hotel
Day 10: Kovalam – Thekkady: After breakfast, check out of the hotel. Later proceed to Thekkay. Evening proceed for a spice plantation visit. Overnight: At the hotel.
Day 11: Thekkady – Munnar: Early morning proceed for a sunrise cruise on Lake Periyar. You can view the wildlife that comes to the banks of the Lake to drink water. Return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Munnar – the gateway to the hills. It is one of the famous hill stations in Kerala. It was once the favoured summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers. Unending expanse of tea plantations – pristine valleys and mountains- exotic species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests – aroma of spice scented cool air welcomes the tourist. Check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day you are free for leisure and individual activities. Overnight: At the hotel.
Day 12: Munnar: After breakfast, proceed to visit Anaimudi – the highest peak, Devikulam, Mettupatti Dam and Farm, Nyayamakad, Echo Point, Rajamala, and so on. Overnight: At the hotel
Day 13: Munnar – Cochin: After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Cochin. Cochin is situated on the South-west coast of Indian Peninsula. It is known as the queen of the Arabian Sea and the Gateway to Kerala. Check-in at the hotel and after fresh-up proceed for sightseeing visiting the Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace, St: Francis Church, Chinese fishing nets and Bolgatty Palace. And proceed to view the Performance of Kerala’s Traditional dance called “Kathakali”. You will be dropped at the railway station to connect your train to Chennai. Overnight: On board the train.
Day 14: Chennai: Arrive Chennai. On arrival at Chennai you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Check-in at the hotel. PM: Proceed for a half day city tour of Chennai. Late in the evening, you will be transferred to the airport in time to connect your flight back home
